The Adventures of Dot and Mae

Have you been wondering what happened to Dot and Mae? Where did they go? Did they drop off the face of the earth? Well, Dear Readers, Dot and Mae have been stranded on a tropical island!

It all started when Dot and Mae were flying around in their little shoe looking for adventure - like they always do, when suddenly Mae accidentally pressed something that made the shoe go DOWN rather than forward and then the shoe went down, down, down, and landed on a tropical island! Dot and Mae were very scared at first because the shoe landed upside down and they didn’t know how they would flip the shoe back over and be able to fly away.

Dot and Mae started to cry because they were so upset, when suddenly they heard, “Toot! Why are you girls crying? Toot!”

Dot and Mae looked up quite surprised - it was Toot the Bird! “Hurray!” Yelled Dot and Mae. They were so happy to see their friend they immediately stopped crying and started to jump up and down with delight. Mae explained to Toot what had happened with their flying shoe and that they didn’t know where they were.

“Silly girls!” laughed Toot, “This is the Island where I live with my friend Chloe the Shrimp. You can stay here on our lovely island for as long as you like! We will have so much fun!”

Dot and Mae loved the idea of staying on the island with Toot and Chloe. They were very tired of all the snow and cold weather that they had been having back at home and the Island was so nice and warm with a blue sea and yellow sand and palm trees swaying in the breeze. “Let’s stay for awhile.” Dot said to Mae, and Mae agreed wholeheartedly.

Well, one day became two and two became three and so on, until a whole week had passed, because it’s quite easy to loose track of time when your are lounging on a lovely sand beach, soaking your feet in the blue sea, and drinking coconut smoothies that Toot the Bird made for Dot and Mae.

One day Toot and Chloe’s friend Violet stopped by to visit. She is a big girl with a very good imagination. She likes to stop by the island and play with Toot and Chloe whenever she gets a chance. She was very happy to meet Dot and Mae and to play with them as well.

To have some fun, Violet brought some drums she made for Toot. Dot and Mae wanted to play on the drums too, so they hopped on with Toot and they all spent the night playing music and dancing and singing. It was a great time!

In the morning, Dot and Mae realized that they were missing all their old friends and Big Girl Gabriella so they needed to go back. Violet said she would help them turn their flying car back over and show them the way back home.

“Please come back and visit us!” said Chloe the Shrimp.

“We will miss you,” Toot said, “but we will see each other again very soon I’m sure.”

“Good bye, dear friends!” cried Dot and Mae and they waved and waved at Toot and Chloe until they couldn’t see them anymore. When they got back to their home sweet home, they were so happy to see their sleeping bags and all their friends in the China Cupboard. “Thank you for helping us, Violet!” Dot and Mae said and gave her tiny kisses on the cheeks.

“Good bye Dot and Mae. Please be careful next time you fly and I will come by to visit you very soon!”

“That was such an exciting time!” said Mae to Dot.

“Yes, we will have to tell our friends all about the wonderful adventures we had!”
