The Adventures of Dot and Mae

Hello Dear Readers!

Dot and Mae have a good friend named Pepper Monkey. He is an artist and Dot and Mae like to visit him to see what he’s been working on and he also lets them make art whenever they stop by.

Today Pepper Monkey came by Dot and Mae’s cupboard to show them some interesting artwork that he found on the Internet. Isn’t it so interesting to see what other people are creating? It’s good to look at art because it’s very inspiring. It can give you ideas, and teach you things too. Some art makes you think about things that you might not have thought about otherwise. Some art you look at and you go, “Hmmmm, I’m not sure I understand it.” Don’t worry too much about that - just look at it anyway. How does it make you feel? Are the colors or shapes interesting? Does it remind you of anything? Sometimes you have to really think about a piece of art before it means anything to you. Also, Pepper Monkey is a firm believer that “Art” is not just something that you find in a museum! Everyone is an artist in someway - we all have a creative spirit - whether we are cooking, or coloring, or arranging flowers in a vase,  or painting our walls with polka dots, or building a castle with toilet paper tubes and Kleenex boxes! It’s important to let your creative spirit out. Express yourself and do something creative everyday!

Aren’t these so creative and fun! Dot and Mae would like to go on vacation to the little house made out of an egg shell! Pepper Monkey hoped you liked looking at these pictures, and he is sorry he forgot to write down where the images came from to give the artists credit for their work. That’s important to do when you find something you like and want to share it - don’t be like Pepper Monkey and forget!

Well Dot and Mae have decided to make a wreath for Big Girl Gabriella. Today she is playing her flute at a Band Concert and yesterday she went to an art show. We will have her show us some pictures of her art when she gets back!
