Hello everyone! Dot and Mae hope you had a good weekend. They have been spending their time working on several craft projects and they thought maybe you would like to know about them. One of Dot and Mae’s favorite things to do is to use paper to make things - you can do so many different things with paper, crayons and glue (and scissors!). What kinds of things do you like to make with paper? Here is a drawing Dot and Mae would like to share with you - a beautiful star!
Dot and Mae have been learning Origami from the kitten family. Here is a picture of their first creation - a SHRIMP! Isn’t that funny? Dot and Mae are beginners, but Mrs. Kitten is very good at origami and she can make beautiful flowers, butterflies and birds! It’s quite amazing what people’s imaginations have led them to create by simply folding paper Here is a good place to learn some origami - they have lots of nice patterns to print and fold - http://www.tammyyee.com/origami.html
What do you think about this bird? Dot and Mae just love him to pieces! NaniBird is a place where you can go download patterns to make your own bird - they come in all colors and styles. It’s a lot of fun to make them - go and make one for yourself. Then make another one for your best friend! http://www.nanibird.com/
Dot and Mae wanted to make a playhouse this weekend. It’s too early for a tree house, so they decided to build themselves a castle! With just a little bit of work, they were able to make a fantastic castle out of a cardboard box. Now all their friends can come and play Knights of the Roundtable, or sometimes they like to play Fairy Tales. Here are the steps for you to build your own castle, it’s not too hard but if you need help, ask your parents or an older brother or sister.
If you have a good paper craft idea - tell Dot and Mae about it. They are always looking for new things to make. Also, if you make something cool and you send a picture to Dot and Mae, they will post it for everyone to see!
