Another Excuse to Make Something

Hello, Dear Readers! Today is President’s Day so Dot and Mae thought you might like to see what they’re making today - Silhouettes!

These used to be really popular before people had cameras to take pictures of their friends and family. It’s very easy and fun to do, but you will need someone to help you.

First get a black piece of paper and a white crayon. Next you have to find a lamp, turn it on and set next to it - your head and body should cast a shadow on the nearest wall. You may have to mess around with how close you need to have the lamp near you to get the clearest shadow on the wall. Kinda like the drawing shows - Dot drew this for you and she hopes you can understand it.

When you have a nice clear shadow, have your friend tape the black piece of paper to the wall so that your head fits onto the paper.

Use the white crayon and trace the silhouette of the head.

After that is done, use some scissors to cut out the black silhouette and then glue the black silhouette to another larger colored piece of paper.

When you are done, you can frame the silhouette, or just hang it on your refrigerator door. Doesn’t it look so awesome!?
